We’re excited to announce that Pearl Marshall will be our Associate Conductor at our upcoming Louisville, Kentucky festival, Bluegrass, Bourbon and Bells! Mrs. Marshall will share the podium with our guest conductor, Mr. Michael J. Glasgow.
Pearl Marshall has a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Grove City College in Pennsylvania and has been ringing handbells for 25 years. She introduced and taught a curricular handbell program at Green Acres School (1-8) in Suburban Maryland while directing and ringing at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church. She also acted as an interim/substitute handbell director for other regional churches. During this time, Pearl rang for Capital Carillon and served Area 3 as a Youth Festival coordinator and C.H.I.M.E. Liaison.
In 2006, Pearl moved to Los Angeles where she directed youth handbells at Northridge United Methodist Church followed by the Children’s Choir of Glendale Methodist Church. During her time in Southern California, she rang with two auditioned groups, South Coast Handbell Ensemble and LA Bronze. She served Area 12 as the Los Angeles Regional Coordinator.
Pearl and her husband moved to Kentucky in 2014 where she currently serves as Handbell Director for the Union Church Handbell Ensemble in Berea, KY and teaches at a preschool in nearby Richmond, KY. She rang with Alluring in Lexington for a couple years. Pearl is currently working as a solo ringer learning new repertoire and developing a performance schedule.
In her free time, Pearl enjoys Shape Note singing and travel. She is also involved with prison ministry and bond reform in Kentucky.
