Our Friday night opening concert will be the Agape Ringers from Chicago, Illinois, directed by our own guest conductor, David Weck. You will not want to miss this fabulous group, so be sure to arrive in time!
The Agape Ringers is a Chicago-based handbell ensemble that offers high-energy, spell-binding, and educational performances of classical favorites, jazz, marches, sacred songs, folk tunes and original compositions. Since its founding in 1992, the ensemble has played over 310 concerts across North America, Puerto Rico, and England, enjoys an on-going collaboration with pianist/composer Joel Raney, and has performed with jazz trumpeter Orbert Davis of the Chicago Jazz Philharmonic and diverse groups such as the Elmhurst Symphony, Young Naperville Singers, the Illinois Brass Band, and the West Towns Chorus. The musicians have a collective ringing experience of over 360 years and perform on 76 bronze Malmark handbells and 73 Malmark Choirchimes®. Their teaching encompasses many aspects of the art of ringing, and in 2015, the ensemble taught and performed at events for Handbell Musicians of America in Illinois, Nebraska, and Massachusetts, The Fellowship of United Methodists, and The United Church of Christ Musicians Association. In past years, they have featured as performers and teachers for events including the Fellowship of American Baptist Musicians Conference for Church Musicians in Green Lake, WI, plus local, regional and national gatherings of the Handbell Musicians of America. In addition, several members serve in leadership roles at the local, area, and national levels of that organization.

Associate Conductor Program
Are you a conductor interested in working with massed handbell ensembles? Please take a moment and consider our Associate Conductor Program. Our goal for this program is to identify, train, and nurture potential new conductors for massed ringing events throughout Area 5. Our Associate Conductor at the Spring 2016 Festival, Joe Galyon, thoroughly enjoyed the experience and says the program “provided vital insight in working with a large group of ringers.”
For questions about the Spring 2017 Festival Conference please contact Susan Oxley at email@example.com
